I’ve been a bit behind when it comes to Below the Stone and that is something I’m going to rectify.
This challenging roguelite platformer is all about dwarves hitting stones and dodging danger. It has proven successful thus far for Apogee and developer Strollart, and by the looks of it there’s a lot more to look forward to in 2024.
The developers this week shared an update over on Steam that outlines four chunky content updates over the first half of the coming year. Here are the highlights.
- Jan: Fashion Update – cosmetic update with player-requested quality of life improvements.
- Feb-Mar: Caves Awaken Part #1 – new enemies and threats for existing biomes triggered by exploring and dawdling.
- Apr-May: Cakes Awaken Part #2 – More cave stuff, hubworld updates, plus new missions, rescue allies, sub-biomes, and run modifiers.
- Jun-Jul: Layer 3 Update – New biome content, including new monsters, NPCs, and side quests.
I’ll be digging into Below the Stone in the weeks ahead, so stay tuned for more coverage of the game here on the site. In the meantime, here is a lovely assortment of the best roguelikes games on PC.
