Below the Stone is a top-down action-roguelite with extraction elements, dwarves, and lots of monsters that would quite like to eat you.
I’ve been keeping tabs on this one since last year, and it’s a challenging game but it’s also one with plenty of spirit and charm.
The latest out of Strollart and Apogee Entertainment for Below the Stone is the new Kingdom ‘o Quests update, which adds a whole bunch of content to the game – including a pub for your dwarf, once you’ve fixed it up, of course!
It’s in the bar that you’ll be able to meet the new quest-givers and whatnot, including the Bartender and a new gadget-focused seller called the Craftmaster. Speaking of which, the crafting UI has gotten an overhaul, too.
I’m more interested in the new ranged weapons that have been because shooting skeletons is fun! There are now crossbows and guns in the game, and ammo will be craftable, too.
Finally, developer Strollart has highlighted combat as the biggest part of the game that still needs to be improved. In a post over on Steam, the dev has asked the community to chime in with their ideas ahead of the upcoming Combat Update, although it’s not immediately clear when that update will arrive.
