It has been a busy week here at Rogueliker Towers, what with Steam Next Fest giving me more than 200 rogues to choose from! One of these games is Bore Blasters, a pixel-art mining game with action-roguelite sensibilities.
I played the demo for a bit this afternoon and I was pleasantly surprised by what I encountered. Mining games aren’t usually my jam, but this one added just enough urgency to keep me fully engaged.

So what is Bore Blasters? Well, piloting a rickety gyrocopter, you must blast the earth beneath you, grabbing crystals and upgrades while shooting bats and other creatures that don’t seem to pay too much attention to the rocks that you’re blasting as they fly wherever they damn please – I’m not bitter or anything.
The demo is online until February 12, which gives you a few days to play. After that, however, you’ll have to wait for the game to launch on PC (Windows, Linux, MacOS and Steam Deck) on March 8. Developer 8BitSkull confirmed the news a couple of days ago, but it slipped by me until this evening. Mistake rectified – now have a trailer.
