Digital Sun, the development studio behind indie roguelike hit Moonlighter, has just announced the release date for its next game, and its looks rather good, in my humble opinion.
Cataclismo is an RTS with a Lego-inspired building mechanic that has players building huge fortifications, brick by brick.
The efficacy of your building skills and unit positioning is then put through its paces in the RTS part of the game. When night falls, you must man the battlements and repel waves of deadly creatures, which descend upon you in great numbers.
On top of an extensive single player campaign, the studio confirmed an additional trio of ways to play. Here’s the relevant section, as plundered from the press release:
Face increasingly challenging, endless waves of horrors in Survival Mode, build without limitations or the fear of monsters destroying your ideations in Creative Mode, and overcome a selection  of hand-crafted, cleverly designed maps in Skirmish Mode. Each mode brings its own unique flavour that is sure to appeal to a wide range of players.Â
When is the Cataclismo release date?
Finally, all that’s left to do is confirm that Cataclismo is heading to PC Steam on July 16. If that sounds like an awfully long time to wait, there’s already a demo that you can download on Steam.
Before you go, there’s a new trailer to mark this announcement. Take a looksy below to see how the building work and RTS elements come together to create a unique indie experience!
