I was scrolling through my news feed, looking for something to catch my interest, and the first thing that compelled me to click was an update about Woolhaven, which is set to expand Cult of the Lamb in just a few weeks.

Previously, Massive Monster has been releasing smaller, free updates that have been supported with cosmetic packs. Woolhaven is a departure from this approach and marks the first paid expansion for Cult of the Lamb.

With Woolhaven being CotL’s first major expansion, the amount of content being injected into the game is suitably significant, and there’s more than we’ve been treated to in free updates.

Two ewe dungeons

The main course is a double helping of new dungeons: Ewefall and The Rot, respectively. On that front, there are some interesting new details, including a bit of intel about Marchosias, a mad scientist who likes to mess with the weather and who is out to cancel the Gods via the teeth of an angry wolf pack.

Marchosias presides over the mountainside of Ewefall, but once you get inside the mountain itself, you’ll meet an altogether more grotesque enemy force called The Rot. These folks “have been driven mad with pain and suffering. They will rip themselves apart to stop you, mutating and duplicating.” Yikes.

After reading through everything, I noted something about helping an ancient dragon hatch some eggs, a moth out to fulfil their sexy destiny (?!), and there’s even going to be a bit of gardening!

Nearly everything I’ve just told you will make a bit more sense when you watch the release date trailer below, which confirms that the Woolhaven expansion will join Cult of the Lamb on January 22, 2026.

You can currently pre-order the expansion over on Steam PC (Mac, Win), where it’s available for £14.99 or regional equivalent. However, Woolhaven is also going to be released on PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox platforms on the same day.
