I’ve been keeping tabs on Project Zomboid for years now (in fact, I interviewed the devs very recently – check it out here), and so when I saw Dandelion Void during last night’s Triple-I Initiative, I knew exactly what kind of game had inspired the developers to make this eerie and intriguing sci-fi survival simulation.
This new game, Dandelion Void, was originally conceived as a mod for Project Zomboid called Save Our Station. The sci-fi survival RPG takes players aboard the starship Pergola, a generational transport ship where something has gone horribly wrong.
Years after these events, you wake up and must try to piece things together, while also surviving the dangers all around, alone or in co-op.

One thing that I’m interested in is the game’s approach to proc-gen. This is not a roguelite in the traditional sense, because the map itself is static and consistent. What changes is the overgrowth and how it interacts with the ship. Here’s how developer Manzanita Interactive explains it:
With each attempt at survival, the details of the ship change. The undergrowth spreads differently, vents are busted open, medkits are spoiled or water pipes cease to function. Even as your knowledge of the Pergola grows, each run presents a new set of challenges.
The announcement has a number of facets and includes the news that the game will be published by Kwalee at some point in 2027.
Of course, the highlight is the release of a new demo, which is available to download right now on Steam. First, check out the trailer below if you’d like to see Dandelion Void in action.
