FPS roguelite fans have a new date for the ol’ diary, after Prophecy Games just announced that the studio’s sci-fi shooter is about to exit Early Access on PC in just a few days, on August 11 to be precise.

Not only that, but Prophecy also dropped demos on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series respectively, with the console version of the co-op shooter announced with a playable bang!

The demo will let up to three players attempt the game’s first zone, and the Xbox store listing for the demo mentions all 30 of the game’s guns, so I’m assuming they’re all in there.

There’s no word on a console release date yet, but the studio did confirm that the full version of the game will have cross-play between all three platforms when it lands, whenever that may be.

“After a strong PC Early Access run with over 300,000 players diving into Deadzone: Rogue, we’re thrilled to bring the chaos to Xbox and PlayStation. Expanding to console means even more players can squad up, explore the mysteries of the ISSX, and survive the horrors together – wherever they play,” said Prophecy Games, presumably arranged as some sort of choir, so they could communicate such a complicated sentiment as a group without losing clarity.

Poor attempts at sarcasm aside, I’ve been looking forward to spending some time this one, so expect a review from me at some point in the second half of the month!

Update: I just found a bunch of additional information about the 1.0 update coming to PC next week, the day before full launch, and so I’ve added the bullet points below for your convenience:

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
