Dinolords isn’t a game I’ve covered before because it isn’t really a roguelite. However, after having taken a closer look at the game today following the release of its new demo, I’ve softened my stance.
Dinolords grabbed my attention in large part due to the ingredients that are being stirred into the proverbial pot. The devs at Northplay are calling their blend of real-time strategy, city-building, and action-RPG combat a “Hack’n’Strat” – which has got a nice ring to it, no?!
The game itself looks like a characterful combination of base building and RTS combat, with historical armies rocking domesticated dinosaurs in bloody battles to the death. It looks like Age of Empires: Jurassic Park edition, and my interest has certainly piqued.
If you’d like to try the game for yourself, then I’ve got some good news for you, Dear Reader, as Dinolords just scored a new multiplayer demo, which will let you build your base and battle some opponents on PC (Mac and Windows).
It sounds like the new demo was intended to hit during Next Fest, but maybe being a week late will give Dinolords a chance to stand out a bit more. Head over to the game’s Steam page and get downloading if you like the cut of this one’s jib!
