A big player in the ongoing resurgence of the boomer shooter is a twisted little Quake-inspired FPS by the name of Dusk. I hope for your sake that you’ve already played it.
Dusk is a retro-inspired shooter with oodles of atmosphere, but it is very much a high octane affair. Dungeons of Dusk, which is being made by a new developer and not David Szymanski, is a turn-based strategy title that takes place canonically between Dusk episodes.
As you can see from the image below, the spirit of the original has been retained, even if there is a completely different UI and gameplay.
Dungeons of Dusk is being developed by 68k Studios, who last made Ludus Mortis (2024), and the project has scope, with it currently planned to hit mobile, PC (Lin, Mac, Win), PlayStation, Switch and Xbox in 2026 – we’re not sure when though.
When it lands it’ll do so with a 30-level campaign as well as supplemental endless arena, boss rush and survival modes. Of course, there’ll be a load of enemies drawn from Dusk itself, but we’re promised a few new scares, too.
You can wishlist Dungeons of Dusk over on Steam, or there’s a reveal trailer you can watch embedded below for your twisted.
