Welcome back, Dear Reader, to Gone Rogue – you’re semi-regular round-up of new roguelike and roguelite releases!
This week’s feature is once again stacked with roguish video games, not least because we skipped last weekend so we could focus on the big monthly round-up for June instead (it’s well worth a read, if I don’t mind saying so myself).
With this being a fortnight’s worth of games, and in respect of everyone’s time, I’m going to be even more selective about the titles that feature. Worry not- there are still loads to sift through.
As always, I’ve skipped on porno games, free-to-play gubbins, demos, and prologues, as well as anything made using AI. The included descriptions are lifted from the store listings, so the games can speak for themselves, so to speak. Otherwise, I’m keeping things light.
In terms of personal picks, because I know there are those who just want the highlights, check out Galactic Glitch, a fun physics shooter that I’m playing for review. I’m also probably going to take a looksy at Shape Shifter: Formations, another arcade space shooter.
Void War is lined up because I’m a sucker for FTL-likes. On top of that, more nothingness has caught my eye, this time in the form of Void Scout (strangely, there are several void-themed games this week). Dragon is Dead looks dead good, as does As We Descend, and Elden Ring: Nightreign is worth highlighting, even if it’s not my personal cup of tea (Kieran is working on the review).
Finally, a bit of housekeeping. Hitman on the Switch 2 is included because of the brilliant Freelancer mode (there’s more Switch 2 roguelike-ness here if you want it). Elsewhere, regarding the first entry, this turn-based roguelike used to be called Ananias but it just got a huge update and a whole new name – enough to warrant a mention here I think. Oh yeah, and somebody remastered the original Rogue!
