There are a couple of games on my list to review this month, and next up is Inkulinati. According to publisher Daedalic Entertainment, this medieval monstrosity is ready for public consumption on February 22.
Despite the game being in Early Access for some time (since late 2022 according to my Google search), I must confess that I’ve only played a little. Now that the game is finished, it’s time to remedy that, as Yaza Games’ historical turn-based strategy is about to land fully-formed on PC, PlayStation 4|5, Switch, and Xbox platforms.
If you’re unfamiliar, Inkulinati is about the things that happen in the margins of history. Literally. The game is based on the doodles that were drawn by monks on medieval manuscripts. Some of the things they drew were particularly strange, and one has to suspect that they were all high as a proverbial kite.
According to the press release in front of me, the game boasts more than 50 different historically inspired units. There’s a campaign called Journey Mode, and couch co-op (Duel Mode) where you can tinker with the settings a little. There’s also a new trailer for the occasion of this announcement, embedded below for thine viewing pleasure.
