It’s the day after the Triple-I Initiative, and I’m now sitting down and going through all of the news that I wasn’t able to write up last night.
First on my list is the announcement of Little Prince Tyger, a new action-roguelite by French indie developer Saltitude Games, and published by the good folks over at Team17.
As a pixel-loving part-time archer who enjoys roguelites, Little Prince Tyger sounds right up my street, what with its single-screen level design and focus on simulated arrow physics.
Just writing that sentence out has me all nostalgic for TowerFall Ascension by Maddy Makes Games. But I digress…

It sounds like the single-screen arenas of Little Prince Tyger are handcrafted rather than proc-gen, but that’s not a deal breaker for me, especially when there are 1000+ different rooms to explore!
The roguelite part of the game hinges on a perks system, which gives you a variety of ways to sharpen your blade and thicken your skin, so to speak. To get through, we’ll need to dabble with environmental manipulation and master the game’s physics systems, while creating new builds using a variety of stat-altering perks.
Examples of perks mentioned in the announcement include “bleed damage, movement, draw speed and weight,” as well as more interesting elements, such as “manipulating fluids, slowing down time, and gaining access to additional weaponry (such as javelins, boomerangs, throwing knives, traps, and more).”

If you’re as intrigued by this one as I am, I suggest you head over and request access to the playtest on Steam. This first look at Little Prince Tyger is a time-limited playtest that runs until October 18th, so get in there before it’s too late.
Alternatively, just wait for the game to launch on PC (Win) in 2027.
PS. I was just doing a bit of reading, and apparently the spelling of the game’s name is a reference to a William Blake poem called The Tyger. Having just read it myself, I’m none the wiser, but maybe a smidge more cultured…
