Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is out now, I can confirm, with the 1.0 update landing on PC alongside the newly released console versions of the game.
Developed by Digital Sun, this sequel takes the fan-favourite pixel original and brings it into the realm of 3D. Now an action-roguelite more akin to Hades, Moonlighter 2 has you once again spending half of your time out adventuring, and the other half selling your wares to the locals back home.
The Endless Vault’s narrative has now been concluded in the update, and once you’ve got through Will’s story arc, you’ll be able to access the new endgame content: the Infinite Endless Vault. For what it’s worth, if the new mode’s escalating challenge isn’t enough for you, there’s also a hardcore mode, too.
The 1.0 content update adds four new Endless weapon variants, and you can now upgrade your shop to level five.
I personally think that the most interesting addition is a gameplay one, as there’s a new explosive toolset called The Bomb Path. It allows you to “mark enemies with explosive effects that trigger after they receive a certain number of attacks. When the bomb goes off, it deals damage to nearby enemies, opening up new ways to build your deck and approach combat.”
Digital Sun has worked with indie publisher 11 bit Studios for the release of Moonlighter 2 on PC and consoles, but if you prefer to have actual physical things that you can hold and put on display, there’s a retail edition of the game on the horizon. Published by Silver Lining Interactive, the Collector’s Edition has a bunch of extras, and it will arrive on November 13, 2026.
Naturally, there’s a new trailer doing the rounds. I’ve embedded it below, but it’s indicative of the final layer of polish that has been added as part of the 1.0 update. The game’s story now has a proper ending, and there are several new cutscenes in there for you to enjoy.
“The main story of Moonlighter 2 continues with new quests, cutscenes, and discoveries that bring Will’s journey in Tresna to its conclusion,” the studio confirmed. “New quests will take you deeper into the mysteries surrounding the Endless Vault and the people who have made Tresna their home. The story will also bring new changes to the world around you.”
With plenty of new cosmetic options, a conclusive story, and both the Infinite Endless Vault and Hardcore modes, there’s certainly a lot of new content for players to get stuck into.
On the other hand, if you’ve not played Moonlighter 2 yet, you can now find it on the storefronts for PlayStation, Switch 2, and Xbox Series, where you can also play on Game Pass.
