Developed by CRNG Games, Petty Ungodliness is a single-player roguelite deckbuilder about making friends with forgotten gods and trying to turn back the apathy that is draining the world of its colour.

In Petty Ungodliness, the gods now work in retail, but after suffering human customers for a hundred years, they’ve had enough and want their power back. To be fair, I don’t think I’d last 100 days, so 100 years working in retail is nothing to sniff at. But I digress…

This innovative roguelike deckbuilder takes place across three lanes, or Places of Power. You’ll have to play your cards to influence and control these lanes; otherwise, I’m guessing you’re going to struggle.

Apparently, the gods are unlocked as you play, via combat, choices, and chatting, and your decisions will determine the overall strength of your deck.

As the gods get their mojo back, more colour will return to the world, which sounds like a lovely expression of progression, don’t you think?!

If you like the sound of the above, you can sign up for the Petty Ungodliness playtest, which is running for the next week, until September 9th. Even if you’d rather wait for the game to be finished before diving in, head over to Steam to wishlist it.

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
