I really like Robobeat, and now that there’s a release date for the console version, I reckon I might finally get around to playing enough to write up a full review. I’ve certainly played enough to include it in my round-up of the best roguelike shooters, for what it’s worth.
As the name implies, Robobeat has you playing along to a destructive tune, with loads of funky beats to accompany the chaotic gunplay. There’s a strong roguish element, so new runs always feel pretty fresh and there are loads of fun weapons to work through.
As you’ve noted by now, the emphasis is on banging tunes and timing your button presses to the beat, and to that end there is crossover content with BPM: Bullets Per Minute, Dusk, and Ultrakill featuring in the soundtrack.

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!
Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.
Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.
Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2 | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
