Trekkies looking forward to new content in Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, I have a date for your diaries: October 1, 2026.

That’s when two DLC are beaming in, one paid and one free. Normally, it’s the good stuff behind the paywall, but that might not be the case this time around.

The highlight addition is the Q Trials, a new way of mixing the game up and giving players more freedom. The devs name-dropped FTL and Frostpunk in terms of how it will offer more player agency, and they’ve pitched it as a more demanding way to play:

“Randomized events, changing routes and challenges, but also much more freedom in how you build your crew turn each journey through the Delta Quadrant into a different test. Want to put together an all-Borg crew? Go ahead. Q will probably have opinions. No. He most definitely will have opinions.”

The paid-for part of the update is the Equinox DLC, which gives you a new playable ship captained by Rudolph Ransom. Apparently this new, smaller ship is going to add a new challenge to the game when Q Trials and Equinox land on October 1 on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

For more about Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, I last wrote about the game back when the season pass first landed (this being the second DLC drop for the season pass, as well as available standalone).

Finally, there’s a new trailer for the DLC below, featuring the voice of Q himself, John de Lancie!

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
