In a twist to the below story, Isaac creator-in-chief Edmund McMillen has confirmed that he has indeed talked to Epic Games about a possible collaboration that would see The Binding of Isaac appear in Fortnite, at least in some capacity.

When asked directly by a fan over on Twitter.com, McMillen simply responded with: “Yes, we have talked :)”

An interesting aside: in the same thread he confirmed that a potential collaboration between Isaac and Fall Guys never materialised after the other side fell silent during negotiations.

Anyway, keep on reading below to find the original story, in which the crossover is discussed, including some thoughts on how it could down from McMillen himself!

December 15 Update

My crossover dreams have been ground into dust after Edmund McMillen himself confirmed that there is no deal with Epic Games to see Isaac appear in Fortnite.

In a highly entertaining social post that I just found over on Reddit, McMillen confirmed that it was all a mix-up and he wasn’t in fact able to turn around a deal with Epic in a mere 45 minutes. Apparently it’s because he has a cracked heel, or something like that.

Anyway, please take a moment to let that sink in, Dear Reader: there is no deal to see Isaac appear in Fortnite. I’m sorry if I got your hopes up.

There is still a sliver of hope hope though, as McMillen does clearly like the sound of a collaboration. He doesn’t play the game, he admits, but his ideas on how to implement Isaac in the game are rather refreshing when compared to the usual Fortnite collabs that you hear about.

“The bad news is there is no official Isaac Fortnite collaboration. The good news is, there can be,” he announced, first crushing my dreams before reigniting my hopes of a crossover.

“It could be a fucking backpack. It could be a gun that shoots tears out of Isaac’s eyes. It could be a deformed Isaac. It could be Isaac riding on the back of Satan.”

I have nothing to add.

Original Article

It’s the season for entertaining crossovers, it would seem, as The Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen has just teased a collaboration with Fortnite creators Epic Games.

The exchange, which you may want to take with a pinch of salt for now, is available for all to see over on Twitter.com.

McMillen responded to one fan on the social media platform by saying: “Tell me who to talk to and I’ll make it happen.”

This tweet was followed a mere 45 minutes later with: “We did it!”

I want to believe – because I’m gullible, perhaps – but mostly because I think it’ll be a fun collab if it ever does come to fruition.

In the unlikely event that there turns out to be some substance to it, I might even have to download Fortnite again and play a couple of rounds with my kids. Now there’s a thought.

The other entertaining crossover alluded to in the opening paragraph is the one that was only announced this past week between Among Us and Vampire Survivors.

If you prefer your news with more Isaac in it, there’s currently an ongoing online multiplayer beta for Repentance! Hit the link, Dear Reader, to find out more, or you can watch our first steps online in the video conveniently located below.

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
