If you’re a fan of immersive sims, then you’ll be familiar with the Thief series, which has played a pivotal role in the evolution of the genre.
I’ve long enjoyed sneaking around in Thief games, and so it gives me great pleasure to confirm that the leaks surrounding Thief: The Dark Project Remastered are true.
It turns out that remake specialists Nightdive Studios are indeed working on a new campaign called The Tarnished Mirror.
The trailer, which I’ve embedded at the end of the article for your convenience, shows several posts from people confirming the game’s announcement after Exophase leaked several games.
There’s not much to go on in the official message from Nightdive Studios, other than the fact that we’ll get more news about The Tarnished Mirror later this year, on November 2.

Over the years, Nightdive has built itself a great reputation for handling classic IPs with care, and after the studio delivered a brilliant update of System Shock back in 2023, I doubt I’m alone in being excited about experiencing some new Thief!
Roll on November 2, when we’ll discover more about The Tarnished Mirror. Maybe by then we’ll have a firm release date for Thief: The Dark Project Remastered, which is due to land on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox platforms at some point “this winter”.
