One of our favourite things to do at Rogueliker is shining a spotlight on intriguing smaller projects that might otherwise slip under the radar.
Topdeck Automat is a perfect example, as it’s a roguelike auto-battler where your deck literally prints itself.
Developed by Ludokultur, the game features 200+ cards with a free-form upgrade system for near-inifinate combinations. With your deck being spat out at random by a printer droid, you’ll have to use your wits to battle the RNG and get the upper hand on your opponents.
There are also 30 unlockable characters available that change your approach to each run. These you’ll select to take the fight to the game’s 50 different enemy types and a dozen bosses.
If you’re looking to check this one out early, there is currently a playtest live on Steam that you can request access to. No release date is planned at the time of writing, but it will be available for Windows, Linux, and Mac.

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.
What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
