Developer Metis Creative has today revealed its new game, a tactical roguelite, and it looks and sounds utterly fascinating.
Players will take on the role of Declan Wayne, an archaeologist who is “tormented by his fading sense of self.” According to the game’s new Steam page, there are three distinct biomes to be found within the “cerebral realm of Ravelle”, where players must explore, loot, and fight for survival.
The adventure therein is described as a “shifting labyrinth of trauma, obsession, and regret.” I’m not exactly sure how the world and Wayne’s mind are linked, but this is not your typical roguelite narrative, that’s for sure.

Within this fractured world, players will recruit adventurers, build a three-character party of occultist mercs, and then take them into tactical battles on grid-based arenas.
When you’re not getting lost in Wayne’s world, you’ll be working as an antiquarian, appraising items fetched on your previous missions, and then selling them to fund the next run. It sounds like a twisted take on the Moonlighter concept, but based on what I’ve seen so far, it works.
Once you’ve raised some funds and sorted your mercs, it’s back into Ravelle for another attempt and to find out a bit more of the story, which is said to unfold over repeat plays.

The art style is one of the main things that captured my interest, and you can sense the influence of Arkane in the world-building here.
Another thing that caught my attention: this appears to be the debut video game by Metis Creative, and it’s shaping up nicely all things considered. I’m certainly going to keep tabs on this one as it prepares to launch on PC (Linux, Mac, and Windows).
Finally, Wane was announced during PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, and you can see the reveal trailer below, which confirms that the game will be playable when the demo drops in 2027.
