With Vampire Crawlers launching later this month and a fresh trailer revealed at yesterday’s Triple-i Initiative showcase, it seems the wait for Warhammer Survivors may not be much longer.

This highly anticipated crossover between Auroch Digital (Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, Boltgun 2 and Words of Vengeance), poncle (Vampire Survivors), and Warhammer has understandably generated plenty of excitement, and we couldn’t be more hyped.

With release drawing closer, we’ve put together a handy guide. Below you can find answers to the most pressing questions relating to its confirmed champions, enemy factions, the release date, and more.

What is Warhammer Survivors?

Warhammer Survivors offers a faithful take on the survivor-style formula, developed in collaboration with poncle, the studio behind Vampire Survivors.

Players face endless waves of enemies as a cast of renowned champions taken from the Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universes.

The game is said to feature an arsenal of familiar weapons, such as the Boltgun, Astartes Chainsword, Whirlwind Axes. It will also include multiple modes and stages from across the grim, dark 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms.

You might be wondering why this wasn’t released as a Vampire Survivors DLC. According to the developers in a Steam blog, the project contains far too much content to be delivered as an expansion. In the blog, the team said:

“It’s built on the foundation of Vampire Survivors, but every single character, stage, enemy, powerup and secret has been built from scratch to create an experience that exists alongside the traditional Vampire Survivors experience.”

Playable champions in Warhammer Survivors

The entire roster for Warhammer Survivors is yet to be revealed, but we do know some champions that will appear from both universes.

Warhammer 40,000

  • Malum Caedo
  • Brother Luca
  • Marneus Calgar
  • Knight-Commander Pask
  • Commissar Sebastian Yarrick
  • Sly Marbo (Legend of Catachan)

Warhammer: Age of Sigmar

  • Neave Blacktalon

More characters are expected to be revealed as we approach launch.

Warhammer Survivors confirmed enemies

As well as the many champions, we do know some of the enemy factions that we will be battling our way through.

The Skaven are a race of subterranean Ratmen who dwell in rotten warrens, conducting twisted experiments combining machinery, magic, and mutation. Now unleashed upon the Mortal Realms, they swarm forth with corrupted machines and mutants in search of Warpstone.

The Tyranids are a Xenos bioform species that have invaded the galaxy from beyond the void. Clad in thick chitin and armed with lashing tendrils, razor-sharp talons, and terrifying symbiotic weaponry, they represent a relentless and horrifying threat.

Seen stomping through the new Ork Stronghold stage, the Orks are a brutal mob of boisterous bullies who overwhelm players with waves of varied enemy types. From Grots and Bomb Squigs to Ork Boyz and Lootas, they unleash relentless “dakka” across the battlefield.

Is there a demo for Warhammer Survivors?

Sadly, there isn’t currently a demo available for Warhammer Survivors.

Warhammer Survivors trailers

The latest trailer confirmed the game is coming to consoles, showed off the new Ork faction, and revealed new weapons and champions.

The only other trailer we have received for Warhammer Survivors is the official reveal. This gave us our first glimpse at the legendary crossover and revealed champions such as Malum Caedo, Brother Luca, and Neave Blacktalon.

Warhammer Survivors release date and platforms

At the time of writing, there is no confirmed release date for Warhammer Survivors, beyond a planned release window of 2026. The pricing for the game is also yet to be revealed.

The game was initially announced for PC (Win), but following the recent Triple-i Initiative showcase, we now know its also coming to PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles.

There’s no word yet on mobile versions, but the devs have acknowledged they have received requests in the following Steam blog. For context, Vampire Survivors rolled out on PC, consoles, and mobile all within the space of two months.

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
