If you’re always on the lookout for a promising new soulslike, then there’s a new one on the horizon that’s worth keeping tabs on, I think. That game is the just-announced sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, which doesn’t have a name yet, but is in development.

The Wuchang sequel will be the work of an entirely new studio: IndolphinityThis new outfit has been launched by the series’ creator, so the follow-up is certainly in good hands. What’s more, 505 Games is handling publishing and will fund development, including the launch of a new studio in China to support Indolphinity.

It’s a good turnaround for the franchise after the Fallen Feathers’ creative lead, Xia Siyuan, was dismissed by Leenzee Games, the studio that made the first game. That studio eventually splintered when the core team followed Xia Siyuan out the door. 505 Games (via their parent company) snapped up the rights, and Indolphinity was formed from the ashes of the old studio.

And so, the franchise lives on.

Finally, before you slink off back to whatever it is you should be doing, an aside that I spotted in the presser but an interesting note to end on: the first game, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, has “reached” five million players across PC and console.

They also flexed on their launch stats on Steam, boasting a concurrent player base of 130,000. Those are not shabby numbers!
