Lots of new announcements are landing in my inbox at the moment, and I’m always trying to find the most interesting reveals and share them with you here. One that caught my attention a couple of days is Cheat Death, an atmospheric deckbuilder which sounds like it’s a little bit inspired by another favourite of mine/ours, Inscryption.

This time around things are a little more abstract, and you’re sitting over a table from Death. At stake: your soul, naturally.

The game is played out on a hex board and there’s also a dice rolling mechanic on top of the deckbuilding elements. Even after watching the trailer below, I’m still not sure how it’ll all fit together, but it looks and sounds like an interesting concept nonetheless and I’m intrigued!

GG Studio launched the Steam page for the game the other day, and if you like a mysterious and atmospheric deckbuilder, you can sign up for a playtest ahead of Cheat Death’s planned launch in Q1, 2026.
