With CleanFall being a breath of fresh air and a strange concoction of genres, it’s great to see it find its audience and continue to expand as it progresses through its Early Access journey.
Part one of the game’s first major update, Legion and Energy, landed in September, expanding its destructible sandbox world with new items, balance tweaks, and a host of bug fixes.
The second part of the update arrived more recently and, most notably, introduced Steam Achievements and eased the game’s overall difficulty. It also brought a wealth of additional content, including new weapon modifiers, new Alchemy Buffs, and 10 new Sub-Perks.
In a blog post regarding the update, developer Humanyoyo noted that Nightmare Mode had been delayed so that they could focus on the “true ending”. The true ending will reportedly involve story reveals, new mini biomes, mechanics, and complications for those who seek it out.
To coincide with the update, the game is currently 30% off until 5th January. You can check out the game’s current road map below:
I sunk some time into the demo for CleanFall, and I found it to be a very strange but fun mix of ship building, 2D platforming, and sandbox exploration. You can check out my initial impressions here.
