It’s not every day that a basketball-themed roguelike deckbuilder crosses our desk here at Rogueliker.

Clutchtime: Basketball Deckbuilder (as the name suggests) is exactly that, a unique spin on the genre where players pull off passes, shots, steals, rebounds, and blocks by playing dedicated cards.

Solo developer Bigosaur has recently revealed that the game will be slam-dunking its way into Early Access on 24th July 2025. Basketball ball fans can now head out onto the court as a free demo is available.

The game features two core modes: Elimination and Classic. Elimination is a tournament mode that plays like a standard roguelike and Classic is like a traditional basketball season where there is the freedom to lose games, but you still need to qualify for the playoffs.

An interesting touch is that the developer attended live games to record audio to create more of an immersive feel. The crowd is dynamic and reacts to the current noise level in the game, so any block, dunk, or other fancy move will trigger the fans’ cheering.
