Card sharks, ahoy! Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers just got updated with a huge injection of new content.

The update is called the Doubling Down 2.0 Update, and it adds multiple new floors, fresh cards, mechanics, as well as a host of quality-of-life improvements.

Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, if you’re not already in the loop, is a Blackjack-infused roguelike deckbuilder vaguely in the spirit of Balatro. It dropped in August 2024, and now, nearly two years later, developer Purple Moss Collectors has delivered a batch of new features and improvements.

What’s in the Doubling Down 2.0 Update?

There are going to be four new floors, and they will each include new foes, events, and even some music! The thing I think I’m most intrigued by is the new Lucky Charms, which are items/artefacts you collect during a run that have permanent effects.

That sounds lovely until you find out that the bosses now have them, too. So be careful out there! Apparently there are more than 50.

High Stakes is another new addition in the update. These are modifiers that let you change the overall experience. That means either a preset challenge in the form of a new daily run, or custom runs where you can move those modifiers around yourself.

If you want all the patch notes, including details about the new cards, the revisions to old ones, and all of the other good stuff that just got added to Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, head over to Steam for all the details. If you’ve not already tried the game, it’s out now on PC (Lin, Mac, Win) and it’s currently 50% off in honour of the update.

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
