As we impatiently await the much-anticipated Enter the Gungeon 2, Dodge Roll and Devolver Digital have announced that the first two games in the series are blasting onto mobile this summer.

The bullet-hell roguelike masterpiece Enter the Gungeon is making its mobile debut, while its arcade spin-off Exit the Gungeon is launching across all platforms after a stint as an Apple Arcade exclusive.

That’s not all, as these mobile ports come with some exclusive features. Most excitingly, a brand-new playable character from Cult of the Lamb is being added, and it has its own unique abilities inspired by the hit game.

The post also confirms that the game has been optimised for mobile devices, with touchscreen controls and even online co-op.

The long-awaited sequel was also announced during Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct this April, and I’m a big fan of its new 3D look. It is clear that there is plenty of life left in the series.

Enter the Gungeon Android & iOS Release Date

Devolver Digital has today confirmed the release date for both versions of the game on mobile, with Enter the Gungeon hitting Android and iOS on August 14th.

The dates on the store listings linked in the text below remain as they were when the original article went online, but the publisher has since confirmed the news via socials.

After doing a bit of digging, it turns out that Apple’s iOS Store confirms an August 15th release date for both Enter the Gungeon and Exit the Gungeon.

I think it’s fair to say that Android gamers can probably expect to get the game at the same time, although the Google Play Store doesn’t have a confirmed release date on its listing at the time of writing.

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
