Welcome back, you lovely lot, for another instalment of Gone Rogue, the weekly round-up where I play Where’s Wally (that’s Waldo for my friends in North America) with the release schedule until I’ve found every single roguelike or rogue adjacent game that I can, and then share them with you in the form of the giant list below.
If you’ve been here before then you’ll know that I skip on prologues and demo versions of games and instead focus on new releases. I also don’t feature anything too sexy, and if something looks like a cynical cash grab with questionable free-to-play mechanics, I’ll pass on that, too.
Having listed all those caveats, I can still confirm that this week’s release schedule is absolutely packed with games, including some rather notable releases. Here are my highlights:
To start with, RPG deckbuilder Dimensionals looks like a well polished video game about collecting heroes and battling baddies. Toads of the Bayou, on the other hand, is an interesting little turn-based tactics rogue with charming swamp-covered pixel-art that I quite enjoyed. I also like the look of RAM Random Access Mayhem, an action-roguelite about swapping between robots and causing chaos.
Finally, as always, I’ve put my money where my mouth is and picked up two new games this week. The first was Dungeon Clawler, which has been on my radar since it first appeared earlier this year, and is a bit like Peglin but with a claw machine instead of pachinko. My second pick was STAND, because the post-apocalyptic theme sounds great. No idea if it’s any good, but it cost less than a quid!
