After a predictably slow start, the year has finally kicked into gear with reveals for many exciting new rogues now coming through the pipeline.
One game that instantly stood out when it landed in my inbox was Huntdown Overtime, a roguelite prequel to the 2020 run-and-gun shooter Huntdown.
It sees players step into the shoes of John Sawyer during his transformation from battered bounty hunter into a cybernetic killing machine from the original game.
Inspired by 80s action films and classic platform shooters, the game offers a brutal roguelike loop, letting players earn bounties and enhance their character with upgrades through procedurally generated runs.
Huntdown Overtime is heading to Steam Early Access in Q2 2026 and you can now add the game to your wishlist and join the official Discord.
“OVERTIME is a very different game from the original Huntdown,” said Tommy Gustafsson, Art Director at Easy Trigger Games. “We’ve tried to capture that relentless, forward-momentum gunplay from classic action movies and modern ones like John Wick. Then we added a massive arsenal, cybernetic upgrades that reshape your playstyle, and wrapped it in a roguelite loop.”
