OTXO is heading to PlayStation 4|5 and Nintendo Switch in just a few days, developer Lateralis Heavy Industries has just confirmed (I was alerted via post over on Twitter.com). If you’ve not heard of the game before, you can consider this good news.
OTXO is a top-down twin-stick shooter that fuses Matrix-inspired bullet-time with Hotline Miami-esque combat gauntlets. After arriving at a mysterious mansion, you must venture inside armed with a gun as you try to save your loved one.
During your adventure, if you can call it that, you’ll meet some strange folk who are stuck in this even stranger mansion with you. They’re the people who’ll talk to you between runs, sell you drinks that make you stronger, and let you pick different starting weapons.
The mansion is patrolled by heavily armed guards who shoot on sight, and like the game that inspired it, the brilliant Hotline Miami, OTXO will have you hugging walls and kicking down doors as you look to advance further into the building.
I’ll be honest (I’m always honest), I’ve been sitting on this one for ages. I think it has been in my library since the last Steam sale. At long last I booted it up to take a look, once I’d heard about the console port. After just a few minutes I was delighted with past me for picking it up, but annoyed with him for not playing it sooner.
OTXO is currently 45% off on Steam (as part of the sale) so if you’ve got a PC / Steam Deck, now is the time. If you’re on Switch or PS4/5, stick March 28th in your diary.
