Outcast Tales is a new turn-based tactical roguelike by Hardline Studios, and it just launched on Steam – for free – on PC (Lin, Win).
It feels like there must be some catch, but apparently there isn’t; the developers say that they just want to put their game in front of as many people as possible, and giving it away for free is certainly a good way of doing that.

The roguelite RPG has a post-apocalyptic setting, and there’s a party-focus that leans into a choose-your-own-adventure narrative style. This is a game about steering a team of three total idiots through combat encounters as you bid to survive the wastelands of the future.
Outcast Tales seems to focus on the characterful personalities of its eight different playable characters/classes, and you’ll be able to develop their relationships – for better or worse. In line with that, there’s an interesting Twitch integration for anyone streaming the game that “will enable your chat to make crucial decisions during events, as well as choose your next destination or ability upgrade.”
Publisher Inner Pocket sent over a new promo trailer to support the launch, so if you’d like to find out a bit more about Outcast Tales, which the devs describe as “Firefly meets Douglas Adams”, you can check it out below.
