It might have been Hades II that stole the headlines on PC and Switch last month, but September’s big roguelite release on PS5 and Xbox Series was arguably Sworn.

This Arthurian action-roguelite borrows a couple of ideas from Hades, but it injects some British mythology into the mix and then invites some friends over to play. I’ve been enjoying it, but it was also clear in the days after launch that Sworn was just a little bit rushed to hit 1.0.

To that end, the new post-launch roadmap just shared by developer Windwalk Games on Steam, explains the features that are still coming to the game in the coming months, split across two phases.

Sworn roadmap Phase 1 – Q4 2025

The first thing on the list is Discord integration for in-game chat, which is always harder to implement than people account for.

The big addition, however, will the alternate bosses, which are drawn from Arthurian lore. These three additional boss battles will appear on higher difficulty levels, so git gud, young squire!

Finally, the announcement blog over on Steam also mentions the usual mix of bug fixes and quality of life changes.

Sworn roadmap Phase 2 – Q1 2026

The second phase of content is due to land in the early part of 2026, and within this time frame we can expect two strands of development to come to fruition.

First is the new Boss Rush mode, which will throw players into a “gauntlet of challenging fights” against the game’s then expanded roster of naughty knights.

After that we’re promised something rather vague, so I’ll use their words because I don’t want to misinterpret anything:

Additional Difficulty Content – The foes of Camelot are becoming even stronger as you progress in your quest.

Not sure what that means other than the broad promise of more end-game content, but at least we’ve got a rough idea of when it’ll land!

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
