I’m eager to get my hands on the final release of Undermine 2, so it’s great to see the game will soon receive a major new update.
Releasing on May 1st, the 0.7 Duskfall Update features a new area, a mighty new boss, and a new difficulty mode to encounter.
Players can explore new areas such as the Duskfall starting location and the Thimble Thicket market, where they can purchase relics, arcana and potions themed around growing and shrinking. Alongside this, the new difficulty mode, The Grim Crucible, is said to combine elements of UnderMine’s Summoning Stone with Hades’ Heat system for an added layer of challenge.
The new dual boss, Bul & Gogi (pictured below), can now be encountered during runs. From the looks of it, this giant frog will attempt to gobble you up with its tongue, while managing attacks between the two foes should keep you firmly on your toes.
Duskfall follow’s the 0.6 The Roost Update which rolled out in February and added two new shops, new items, and a unlockable room in the hub that houses new obtainable companions.
I spent a bit of time with the game’s demo during June’s Steam Next Fest. In my preview, I said: “Don’t be put off by the ‘2’ in the title—like Neon Abyss 2, Undermine 2 makes it incredibly easy to jump in, even if you never touched the original. So grab your pickaxe and dive right in.”
At the time of writing, Undermine 2 is 20% off on Steam until April 16th, making it the perfect time to grab it ahead of the update.
