Zodiac infused roguelite platformer Astral Ascent is on the cusp of leaving Early Access at the time of writing, and there’s a lot of interesting news circulating game.

The big news is that the game has just been given a huge update that changes a monstrous number of small things, and there are a fair few major changes, too.

The patch notes were so chonky that they had to be split across two updates over on Steam, where the changes were first announced. The major improvements include:

  • The introduction of the final boss
  • New Star Guardians and Zodiac battles
  • Mid-run saves – yay!
  • A cinematic intro and tutorial
  • New storytelling elements
  • New music to enhance the already charming atmosphere
  • And a new current stats window

Developer Hibernian Workshop also made a point of sharing details of a number of community requested changes, and these feel important enough to highlight too:

  • Markers in co-op to differentiate between players
  • The Moon Room can now appear at the side of exploration/fight rooms, not with other special rooms.
  • That said, co-op players will now both be rewarded in the Moon Room.
  • Equipped summons can now be viewed in the inventory
  • There are several tweaks to boss fights
  • I’m not going to dive into the more general balance and performance changes as there are dozens and dozens!

Astral Ascent release date

Astral Ascent is leaving Early Access on November 14, and when that happens, there’ll be an slight price increase. In this instance, early birds will catch a slightly cheaper worm.
