Ball X Pit is getting its final free content drop, The Naturalist Update, in early August

The wicked cool hybrid bullet heaven otherwise known as Ball X Pit is getting the last of its promised free post-launch expansions in just a few days. Yay!

The new content falls under the banner of The Naturalist Update and adds new characters, balls, and passives. Yay again!

If you’re not already in the loop, Ball X Pit takes the best bits of the classic arcade hit Breakout, and then turns it into a weird RPG where characters fling magic balls at advancing enemies. It’s great, but you can read my original review if you need further persuading.

Ball X Pit is the work of Kenny Sun and Friends (with able support from Devolver Digital), and it offers a simple and addictive blend of arcade gameplay, with excellent synergies available to those who experiment with the different ball evolutions.

As for the new stuff, the two new characters are called The Ballbearer and The Hoary Hoarder, respectively. More exciting for me, however, is the news that we’re getting an impressive 11 new ball types as well as five new passives. That should mix things up for everyone!

We’re promised more details on the day, which is approaching fast, as The Naturalist Update is due to hit Ball X Pit on August 6.
