If you’re happy to play your games on the Epic Games Store, then there has never been a better time to check out the platform. That’s because there are currently two great indie games available to download there for free, and next week’s game is just as awesome.
The first of the three is Luftrausers, which is not a roguelike at all, but is still a cracking little arcade shooter. I reviewed it for GRUK all the way back in 2014, and wrote about it here more recently. I also interviewed developer Rami Ismail around the time it came out, so this particular game has a special place in my heart.
The second game currently being given away for nowt on Epic’s platform is Astral Ascent, by Hibernian Workshop. This roguelike platformer is really good. I reviewed the base game, and our Kinix played the expansion – we both liked it a lot, and you should absolutely check it out if you haven’t already.
Finally, it’s worth noting that both of these games will only be free until the evening of September 17th. But fret not, Dear Reader, as the following week’s games include Shogun Showdown, a fantastic little roguelike deckbuilder with an excellent side-stepping twist.
That’s three fantastic games and dozens and dozens of hours of quality gaming, all for the price of nothing. Hit this link to the EGS and the listing for Astral Ascent.
