I’ve just been reading a fun little write-up by PC Gamer about their most wanted game for next year: Slay the Spire 2.
Snap.
If you’re interested in knowing more about the gameplay specifics, there are a few cool bits that I’ll let them tell you about, however, a couple of things stood out in the report that I wanted to make sure that I had covered here.
The first is the headline they used, which reveals that “everything is bigger” in the upcoming second game. You’d expect as much from a sequel being made by a bigger team, but further down the page that was quantified a little by studio co-founder Casey Yano.
“There are a lot of bosses already, a lot of enemies, a lot of events—probably more than the first game just on early access launch,” Yano teased. “I guess the starting line is kind of like the finishing line for the first game.”
In a different article, on the same site, Yano also explained how the project almost didn’t come to be. It’s not my story to tell, but you should definitely give PC Gamer a click if you’d like to know more about the sequel’s origin story.
As for a Slay the Spire 2 release date, all we’ve been told so far is that the roguelike deckbuilder is hitting Early Access on PC (Lin, Mac, Win) in March, 2026. You can wishlist it on Steam.
Finally, if you haven’t played the original yet, now’s a great time to take a look as it’s on sale for a couple of weeks, also on Steam. Check out our Slay the Spire review if you need further convincing.
