Hello and welcome, Dear Reader! With the Nintendo Switch 2 now out in the wild, we’re now eagerly looking ahead at what roguelikes we’ll be able to play on the handheld in the months to come.

Compared to our Xbox and PlayStation roundups, this list isn’t the most extensive just yet, but we will continue to populate it as new games get announced. That said, the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with the original Switch, so you’ll still be able to enjoy everything featured in our previous list which you can check out at your convenience here.

For now, we’re including all roguelike or roguelite games officially announced for the platform, but we’ll likely shake things up post-launch, updating this list to spotlight the best-reviewed and most beloved titles in the genre.

We’re focusing exclusively on Switch 2 exclusive and Switch 2 enhanced games, and we’ll continue to add titles as they get announced for the system. Now all that’s out the way, here are the games that are out now…

Out Now

Ball x Pit | Kenny Sun | Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, Xbox

Ball x Pit fits right in with Devolver’s signature brand of quirky, unique titles. It’s a brick-breaking, ball-fusing, base-building survival roguelite, and it sees players hurling ricocheting balls to defeat endless hordes of monsters, experimenting with over 60 randomised variants to discover wild synergies. Its base building component also features 70+ unique buildings that can be constructed for gameplay bonuses and power-ups. Here’s Mike’s review of the Xbox version.

Brotato | Nintendo Switch 2, Everything Else

We all have to give Blobfish a round of applause for releasing a FREE Switch 2 upgrade for this classic Survivors-like. The Switch 2 edition of Brotato features a higher frame rate, enhanced resolution, and best of all, four player local co-op and GameShare with local users. If you’ve already got this one on Switch, do yourself a favour and grab the upgrade pack.

Dave the Diver | MINTROCKET | Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS, Xbox

With it celebrating its 2nd anniversary this June, MINTROCKET has revealed that Diver the Diver will soon be receiving a free Switch 2 update – and that’s now with us as of November 12, 2025. This wholesome roguelite sees players unravel the mysteries of the ocean during the day and run a sushi restaurant at night. Mike put this one is his game of the year wrap for 2023, so it’s worth diving in if you fancy a wholesome indie with a roguelite twist.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time | Level-5 | Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS, Xbox

This cutesy life sim might feel like a bit of a strange inclusion here, but please hear us out! This Switch 2 launch title is soon (date still TBC) set to receive a FREE open-world roguelike mode. Details on the mode are a little light as of present, but it will reportedly allow players to get their hands on “power new gear” and “new stylish equipment and mounts.”

Hades II | Supergiant Games | Nintendo Switch 2, PC

Console players have been hungering for this one for what seems like forever, but that wait is over for some as Hades II is out now on Switch 2. This sequel to one of the most beloved roguelites of all time is set in a bigger, deeper mythic world and this time stars Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld. The game takes full advantage of the new console’s high-def display with responsive action at a target of 60 frames per second.

Hitman World of Assassination – Signature Edition | IO Interactive | PC (Win), PS, Switch 2, Xbox

The Switch 2 version of 47’s final adventure, Hitman World of Assassination – Signature Edition, includes all three of the games, a bunch of escalation contracts, and some bonus missions. Simply put, there’s a lot of game here. However, the reason this third-person action-stealth game is being mentioned here is the brilliant Freelancer mode, which remixes the game’s locations and turns the whole thing into a globe-trotting roguelike-inspired campaign where the stakes keep rising and any mistake can be punished. The randomised elements and added threat of losing campaign progress brings even more tension to an excellent stealth experience.

The Rogue Prince of Persia | Evil Empire, Ubisoft | PC (Win), PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series

This slick platformer from Dead Cells DLC developer Evil Empire takes the essence of the original side-scrolling Prince of Persia and remixes it with a roguelite wrapper. It’s a bit sticky in places, which holds it back from true greatness if you ask me, however, the platforming and combat flow can come together for some truly satisfying moments. This one is coming to Switch 1 and 2 on December 16, 2025.

Coming Soon

BloodRush: Undying Wish | Lightmancer Studios | Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS, Xbox | Release: 1st July 2025 (Switch 2 releases TBC)

I’ve always had a real soft spot for dark, dreary gothic visuals in games and BloodRush: Undying Wish is firmly on my radar for nailing that aesthetic alone. This fast-paced hack ’n’ slash roguelike rewards players for chaining weapon attacks and movement abilities, and features a Bloodborne-style risk-reward mechanic that lets you regain health by staying aggressive and cutting down enemies.

Carmageddon: Rogue Shift | Nintendo Switch 2, Everything Else | Early 2026

After a decade-long hiatus, the Carmageddon series is back with a new roguelite spin-off. Set in the year 2050, where zombies vastly outnumber humans, Rogue Shift tasks players with embarking on roguelike runs to unlock permanent vehicle upgrades. The game features 15 unique vehicles, which can be outfitted with 13+ weapon classes and enhanced with 80+ perks.

Caves of Qud | Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC (Win) | 2026

Caves of Qud is a proper roguelike, with permadeath, turn-based movement, proc-gen and all the usual trimmings; however, it should also work a treat on Nintendo Switch because Freehold put a lot of work into the Steam Deck version of the game, which is fully verified and simple enough to master – no small feat given the complexity of the game. If you’re after a traditional roguelike with enough depth to give you a thousand hours of adventure, then Caves of Qud is the one for you!

Enter the Gungeon 2 | Dodge Roll | Nintendo Switch 2, PC | Release: TBD

Woah, okay, this is one that we did not expect to show up in the Switch 2 Direct! Almost a decade after the release of its predecessor, Dodge Roll showed a 30-second teaser for Enter the Gungeon 2, and it looks absolutely glorious. This bullet hell dungeon crawler is back, but this time with a new 3D art style, new weapons and enemies, and an expanded roster of Gungeoneers. Just like Hades 2, though, we don’t have a firm release date just yet beyond 2026.

FUR Squadron Pheonix | Raptor Claw | Nintendo Switch 2, PC | Release: Q1 2026

If you’ve had a Star Fox-shaped hole in your life since the release of Star Fox Zero in 2016, then you’ll want to pay attention to FUR Squadron Phoenix. This action-packed on-rails space shooter pays homage to the iconic series with its cuddly cast of companion characters and its fast-paced, retro-inspired gameplay. Something new that it brings to the table is its roguelite structure, where players can unlock upgrades and weapons for their spaceship.

Hordes of Fate : A Hand of Fate Adventure | Nintendo Switch 2, Everything Else | TBD

The first newcomer of 2026 on this list is Hordes of Fate, a deckbuilding auto-shooter set in the Hand of Fate universe. Here, players can uncover new and reimagined encounters and equipment, visit new locations and play as familiar heroes from across the Hand of Fate universe. The game is heading to Steam Early Access in Q2 2026 with a Switch 2 release confirmed to be following at an unknown date.

Hunter’s Moon: A Sovereign Syndicate Adventure |
Crimson Herring Studios | Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, Xbox Series | Release: TBD

We have to give developer Crimson Herring Studios a special shout out for bringing this Victorian steampunk deckbuilder to our attention on our sub Reddit. Set in the same universe as 2024’s Sovereign Syndicate, it sees players investigate a mysterious plague and battle beasts and bosses in turn-based battles. The stylish visuals are reminiscent of Darkest Dungeons, and one standout feature is that runs can be modified by using enhanced tarot cards.

Kingdom Loop | RootGame | Nintendo Switch 2, Everything Else | Release: TBD

Self-described as Loop Hero meets tactical turn-based strategy, Kingdom Loop will head to PC in the first half of 2026, followed by Switch 2 and other consoles. Set in a medieval fantasy world, players embark on a quest for the Holy Grail, navigating a mix of kingdom building, resource management, and army development.

MechAnimals | BouncyBrain | Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS, Xbox | Release: TBD

Veteran animators BouncyBrain behind some of our favourite animated films (Kung Fu Panda, Minions, and The Mario Movie) have teamed up to create this adorable mech brawler. Formerly known as Fluffy x Machina, this colourful beat em’ up features several different classes of mechs that you can pilot, plus there’s even PVP fun for up to four players in co-op!

Star Trek Voyagers – Across the Unknown | Nintendo Switch 2, Everything Else | February 18th 2026

Drawing on the spin-off series of the same name, Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown is a roguelite strategy game clearly inspired by Faster Than Light, one of our personal favourites. Players must navigate tough moral decisions, manage their crew and ship systems, and engage in diplomacy as they journey through space. It’s also worth noting that the game will launch simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.

The Binding of Isaac: Repentance + | Nintendo Switch 2, Everything Else | 2026

We don’t have a confirmed release date at the time of writing, but we do have a pack-shot and a store listing that confirms that the Switch 2 version of Isaac’s outing will have online multiplayer for up to four players, plus all of the recent quality of life improvements we’ve been enjoying on PC lately. We also know that it’s going to be a full physical release and that it’ll be out in Q1, 2026. You can pre-order it here.

We’ll be updating this list regularly as more roguelikes and roguelites are confirmed for Switch 2, so be sure to bookmark and check back soon.

Still with us? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked rogues, the following articles represent a huge collection of the best roguelike games ever made.

The Best Roguelike Games: great roguelites, deckbuilders, RPGs, bullet heavens, and more

Next, there are genre-specific lists that delve into the best roguelike games of all types. I’ve pulled out the best examples from each category, alongside the links to more in-depth articles!

The best turn-based roguelikes: Caves of Qud | There are some seriously incredible turn-based roguelikes out there. Of all the modern games, these are the closest to the original Rogue.

Great bullet heavens and auto-shooters: Vampire Survivors | There could be only one choice for this category, given how all other games are called survivors-likes for a reason!

Awesome first-person rogues: Gunfire Reborn | We almost went with Blue Prince for this spot, but most people checking out first-person rogues probably want to wield a gun, you know?!

Cool roguelike deckbuilders: Balatro | Sorry, Slay the Spire fans, but this poker-solitaire deckbuilder has stolen Mike’s heart and won’t give it back.

Brilliant roguelite top-down and third-person shooters: Returnal | Bit of a broad one, but with our other favourite action-roguelites featured elsewhere, we were obliged to mention Returnal here.

Exciting roguelike platformers: Spelunky | Now, don’t get us wrong, Dead Cells is an incredible game, especially with all the DLC switched on. But when it comes to impact, you just can’t beat Spelunky.

Strategy Roguelikes: FTL Faster Than Light | Another classic roguelike that we’re still playing years after launch.

Amazing action-roguelites: Hades 2  | And finally, let’s wrap things up with our favourite of them all. There’s no beating the original Hades, although Hades 2 comes pretty close!
