FromSoftware has just rolled out one of Nightreign’s most requested features in the game’s 1.02 update.
Players can now team up in pairs to take on the brutal challenges of The Lands Between, thanks to the addition of Two Player Editions. Luckily, the difficulty scales based on the amount of players in a session, making for a fair and balanced challenge for expeditions.
The update also adds new filtering options to the Relic Effect filter screen for more precise selection of Relic effects.
There’s also a ton of bug fixes that we couldn’t possibly list here. You can find all changes included in the patch here.
Original: Elden Ring Nightreign is a punishing combination of FromSoftware’s iconic Souls-like gameplay and more procedually-generated roguish replayability, and it’s currently designed for three players to team up against its dazzling challenge.
There is a single-player mode, where certain elements are tweaked for the lone wolf. However, if you only have one friend, as is the case for Kieran and I, you either had to play without any help against a world balanced for three, or team up with a random, who might be better than you or who, if you’re unlucky, might be me.
Until July 30, 2025, that is.
As of next week, two-player teams can look forward to braving Nightreign’s challenge together without fear of being lumbered with a confused old man. This is possible via the new Duo Expeditions mode, which is dropping as part of update 1.02.
I found out the release date from the trailer below, and the copy on YouTube also mentions that the update will include the usual improvements, including new Relics filtering options.
