The upcoming update for Gunfire Reborn, titled “Rune Secrets,” introduces new seasonal gameplay that revolves around mystical Runes and the Rune Stone. This new Season Gameplay will be available in Nightmare and Reincarnation difficulties, offering both a strategic and action-packed experience.

Season 7 also expands Act 1, adding a hidden branch route called Silent Crypt in the third and fourth stages. The new area features more complex structures, significant elevation changes, and larger combat spaces, giving players additional tactical options during exploration.

Combat variety gets a boost with the arrival of two new weapons:

  • Cloud Edge: A melee weapon focusing on multi-strike combos and resource regeneration. Its skill transforms basic attacks into five swift strikes for faster, more efficient clearing.
  • Purgator: A ranged firearm featuring a “damage storage” mechanic that builds kinetic energy for a high-burst critical shot when aiming down sights.

Additionally, several existing weapons receive adjustments:

  • Wild Hunt: Reload times are optimized, with two successful shots or defeating an enemy halving the reload. Trajectory and shooting feel are improved.
  • Bloody Drill: Critical hits now deliver more impactful feedback while maintaining its signature stacking mechanic.

No release date has been confirmed for Season 7, but the devs have noted that more details will be revealed in the near future.

Mike recently decided to review the game to see how it held up four years after its initial release. In his review, he said: “It’s arguable that other roguelite shooters have surpassed Gunfire Reborn from a technical perspective, but when it comes to build variety and overall polish, this classy little FPS holds its own against the best in the business.”
