Mere minutes after I published my glowing review of Knock on the Coffin Lid I discovered that the game’s developer, RedBoon, has just lifted the lid on some post-launch content. Woohoo!
A word of caution: the new expansion isn’t due until April, 2025, so we’ve got a while to wait. The DLC goes by the name of Nightmares of Millenis, and introduces new story elements, plot twists, and the Millenis Nightmares mode, which has seven new “Tarot cards with unique gameplay conditions” for each the game’s playable heroes.
Millenis is a powerful character that players encounter later on in the game. Her DLC means an end to Mortis’s story but “new dungeons, bosses and plot developments for already familiar heroes await you.”
As I highlighted in my review, Knock on the Coffin Lid is a fun narrative-focused deckbuilder with stunning art and a lot of interesting gameplay systems. It left Early Access on PC Steam (Mac, Win) on August 8, and I recommend it if you’re after a card game with a big emphasis on storytelling.
