Windblown is the next game from Dead Cells developer Motion Twin, and we’ve been covering it since I first wrote my early access review all the way back in 2024. How time flies!
I mention time flying because MT has just dropped the ninth (!) major update for Windblown today, and it brings with it a host of additions, including a new, more accessible mode that should help anyone who has struggled with some of the game’s more challenging gauntlets.
The update has a fun name, too: Hunters Gonna Hunt. Here’s the infographic Motion Twin shared with the announcement.

The headline feature is a progression overhaul, and we’re promised that we’ll be getting clearer objectives and rewards that scale with difficulty.
To mix up the gameplay a little, we’re also getting five new trinkets, 30 newly-wrapped gifts, pet companions, ethereal blade upgrades, and dash trail effects. Obsidian enemy variants have been added for an increased challenge, and Steam Cloud Support is now in the bag. Yes!
Motion Twin has also given us a new accessibility mode, called Yua’s Support. Windblown is a co-op game at heart, but it’s also very playable solo. This mode dynamically adapts to your play and adjusts incoming damage accordingly, so if you’re struggling to get past certain challenges, this should make things easier.
I will report back once I’ve seen more, but I always like it when games make themselves more available!
