After six months in Early Access, roguelite shooter Genome Guardian 2 is content-complete and out in the wild on PC (Win).
If you’re a big fan of top-down shooters, especially colourful ones, then we’ve been well fed lately with the likes of Pathogenic and Nova Drift landing in recent times. The first Genome Guardian sits in a similar place, as does this sequel, which left Early Access today.
Full disclosure, I’ve only played the original Genome Guardian, but I liked it enough to wishlist and track its sequel, which looks like a solid continuation of the same formula.
In the words of its creator, GG2 is a “microscopic shooter with macroscopic depth”, and the latest update adds new variables to further mix things up, with fresh guardians, cores, and more.
You can now play all the way through, and then take on the new Ghost Mode and added depths if you want to really push yourself to the limit.
All told, it sounds like developer Alpherior has pulled things together quite elegantly, with tons of depth and plenty of longevity for those who want it via the new modes. Check out Genome Guardian 2 over on Steam if the description above has piqued your interest.
