The two newest playable characters coming to Gunfire Reborn were revealed last week, with heroes Lang Yao and Loong confirmed alongside four new weapons: Firefly, Red Prime, Wolfbrush, and Meltpaint.
The expansion is due to land in December 2026; it’s called Lunary Melody, and hitting this link will take you to the DLC’s recently created Steam page. Check out the teaser for it below (and the screenshot below that is also for the new expansion).
Following on from that announcement, today we got a new mid-season update over on Steam that not only reminded me about last week’s news but also supplemented it with some new details on the upcoming mid-season update, which is due to hit at the end of October.
The mid-season content drop is going to enhance and upgrade your gameplay options with a new Soul Pendant (Lucky Dragon Qian), a new batch of Soul Jades, and new routes to Crystal Vale.

However, I reckon the main draw is the Soul Seal system. These gameplay modifiers sound like they’re going to respin some minor elements and make things a bit more accessible. Here are the new seals and what they do, as written by the devs:
Fortune Soul Seal – Fewer Soul Jades sold at the Soul Pendant Merchant, but you gain refresh charges, and each refresh makes one item free.
Overdraft Soul Seal – Obtain a certain amount of initial Soul Sand. The quality of the first Soul Pendant Affix and Soul Pendant Selection Pack you obtain is upgraded, at the cost of fewer Soul Jade slots.
Artisan Soul Seal – The quality of Soul Jades sold at the Soul Pendant Merchant is reduced, in exchange for the ability to spend Soul Sand to forge Soul Jades and upgrade their quality.
Tempered Soul Seal – All kinds of discounted filler items will appear in large quantities at the Soul Pendant Merchant! Every time a certain number of filler items are switched, the bonus they provide increases. However, the Soul Jade Selection Pack is no longer charged by spending Soul Sand; instead, charges are obtained when switching filler items.

Once the new content drops in October, it won’t be too long before the paid-for DLC, Lunar Melody, follows in December. After that the devs will be back to work on Season 9, which should have a “new map, new boss, and more.” Consider me intrigued.
