Legacy of the Bloodmoon is the name of the eighth and newest major DLC for Vampire Survivors, and once again it’s a cheap-as-chips upgrade for the fiendishly addictive bullet heaven.

The new update costs 1 money / $0.99 / £0.95 and adds a large injection of content to the game, with more than ten new characters to master, a “very big” stage to explore (called Red Moon Manor Stage), a new adventure, and the usual sprinkle of weapons, evolutions, and music.

If that’s not enough new stuff for you, developer poncle also went back and retrofitted Legacy of the Moonspell, a DLC from all the way back in 2022, with a bunch of fresh content. The idea is to fatten up the offering a bit, but it’s yet another example of poncle’s community-first appoach to DLC and pricing.

The 2026 update for Moonspell includes four new characters, as well as five weapons, skins, new music, and a rebalance for the existing crew. That’s also being sold for less than a quid, unless you already own it, of course.

There’s so much great stuff coming out at the moment, but it’s nice to see Vampire Survivors pop up and remind us what a ridiculously good thing they’ve got going on. That said, if you’re after something new to play, my guide to games like Vampire Survivors should give you a couple of great options!

Back on topic… Vampire Survivors: Legacy of the Bloodmoon is out now on PC (Mac, Win), PS, Switch, Xbox, and mobile platforms. Check out the new launch trailer to see it in action!

Actually, one more thing. I just found an interesting character profile video for Malice, the lady in the cover art for the new expansion. Here’s the profile, as lifted from a press release, plus a trailer I spotted on YT.

Malice Bloodmoon – The Ruthless Matron: The ruthless current ruler of Clan Bloodmoon pursues personal power and immortality at any cost. Plunging herself and her minions into perilous hunts through the malign history of her ancestors, she has so far only found that most of the 665 previous Bloodmoon Clan leaders met horribly bloody ends.

What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
