I have been known to enjoy an old-school first-person dungeon crawler every now and then, and the latest one to catch my eye is Allfather, a new Norse myth-inspired hack-and-slash FPS from indie developer Tommy McKay.
Following in the footsteps of a hardened gem like Mortal Sin is no easy feat, but there’s something about the gameplay in the new announcement trailer for Allfather, embedded below, that has my interest well and truly piqued.
The first-person dungeon crawler has you walking in the footsteps of a fallen shieldmaiden who is in search of glory after rejecting the judgement of the valkyries. I’m not entirely sure what that means, but it’s almost certainly not good.

You decided to go get your glory by traipsing through various mythological realms inspired by the Norse sagas, all the while hitting bad things with axes, arrows, and ever more fantastical attacks.
The combat is described as soulslike-inspired, with a focus on stamina management. On top of that, there’s weapon crafting and runes, plus Hades-like blessings from the gods to further spice up your theory-crafting.
Allfather also just got a new Steam page for Linux and Windows PC, so hit the link if you want to wishlist this one for later. If not, check out the official announcement trailer below.
