Deck of Haunts is a twisted new take on the building sim genre, with players taking control of a haunted house and using their powers to scare unwitting humans.
This evil-but-yet-somehow-still-charming roguish deckbuilder hybrid launched last month on May 7th, and it’s a title I remain eager to try.
It’s not unusual for games to get big content updates, but it is rare to have the stars align so perfectly with the theme of a game. I’m talking about today’s date, Friday the 13th of June, which is a great time to drop a spook-centric content update.

At the heart of the update is a new game mode called Nightmare. In this new way to play, you must “survive 13 Nightmares consisting of 13 nights each.”
Therein there will be “increasingly difficult curated groups of humans,” with new modifiers that carry over to each new round to make things increasingly spicy.
It’s at this point that we can welcome the Grim Reaper, who once unlocked will harvest humans for you at certain points. Once you’ve done the 13th Nightmare, they’ll appear in other game modes.
The update also throws in a new deck built around laying traps (which does sound like fun), and a bunch of additional, more minor changes.
