Folk Hero is a fantasy hack ‘n’ slash roguelite action-RPG, and it dropped on PC (Mac, Win) back in 2023. Developed by Chudo-Yudo Games, the action-roguelite has a Slavic fantasy setting and a focus on soulslike-inspired combat.
I’m writing about this pixel-art indie because, after almost three years out in the wild on PC, the game has just been given a major visual overhaul. The short-but-sweet update on Steam explains how a bunch of the game’s elements have been tweaked, revised, and otherwise enhanced.
The devs have “updated the game’s color grading, added unique color filters for each scene, and refined key locations, including the starting beach. Individual points of interest, the user interface, visual effects, and sprites have also been improved.”
The reason for the upgrade: Folk Hero has just been released on PlayStation 4 and PS5. With that double-barreled release, the game is available on PC, Switch, and PlayStation.
