How Many Dudes? is a new and absurd hybrid roguelike-deckbuilder-auto-battler by Butterscotch Shenanigans that puts you in a series of strange and unusual fights.
The game dropped on Steam last week, on July 30, 2026, to be precise, and it quickly proved that there are a lot of people out there who really want to find out how many dudes it takes to fight a lion. Me included, tbf.
In fact, just before the weekend, the developers confirmed that 100,000 people had answered the call and purchased the game on Steam PC. Those are some impressive numbers, no doubt.
Since then, the studio has confirmed some post-launch plans, reassuring players that work will soon be underway on a sizeable, free update stacked with improvements based on player feedback, new cosmetics, and, of course, we’re promised some new dudes to add to the 40+ already in the game!
I’ve no idea when the dude-filled update will drop, but it should be within the next couple of months.
Finally, How Many Dudes also dropped on Android and iOS.

Still with me? Of course you are! If you want to keep reading about great hand-picked roguelikes, this website is absolutely chock-full of them. Head over to the Guides Page for a concentrated hit of roguish games, organised via sub-genre and platform.
What’s more, there are always going to be new lists for emerging trends as well as fresh titles to highlight. This is because my backlog is embarrassingly long, and so I’m always trying to balance the new games that arrive in my inbox with playing the stuff I already have.
