There are so many games vying for attention right now, and it’s so hard to keep up with everything that’s being revealed and released. However, one new game that successfully caught my eye is Rift Punks, which has just been announced by a new studio called Mass Ctrl Games.
Rift Punks is the team’s debut game, and twin-stick bullet heaven gameplay is the main course in this colourful-looking sci-fi shooter. That said, the dev team has worked on Touchgrind and Little Nightmares in the past, and this certainly doesn’t look like a debut.
As someone who enjoys a well-designed sci-fi shooter, I have to say that Rift Punks looks like it could be a good one. While it’s a bullet heaven, the devs explain that “some weapons reward careful aim,” while others are designed to fire automatically. If they get the balance right, it could work well.
Rift Punks has you playing as a spaceship-flying treasure hunter who is sent in search of loot and upgrades that just happen to be guarded by hordes of angry aliens.
There’s a demo coming for Rift Punks later this year, and the game is set to take off properly at some point in 2027, and it’s due on PC (Linux, Mac, and Windows). Hit this oversized link and head to the new Steam page if you’d like to add the game to your wishlist.
